The Stars Hollow Embroidered Crewneck

The Stars Hollow Embroidered Crewneck

If you're a Gilmore Girls fan like me, then you know how special this crewneck is!

Seeing this design complete is so fun for me because I've always wanted a Gilmore Girls crewneck, but never got around to purchasing one that I liked. Now that I've started my own business, I can make all of the crewnecks I want and share them with others.

I first had this crewneck at the Church of the Magdalen show November 1 and everyone loved it! I didn't know how well this crewneck would do at a show, so I only brought one of each size, small-3XL. Guess what!? I SOLD OUT (except for the size small)! How fun is that! I absolutely loved seeing everyone freak out seeing this crewneck and I got to connect with my shoppers on a new level. Part of the reason why I love doing craft shows and markets is making the connection with my shoppers. I like this because they are able to put a name and face to the business and know the person behind the designs and products.

There is a downside to making this design. It takes about an hour a half to stitch and sometimes my machine gets funky with the thread and bobbin casing. As I have been working on these this week for my last craft show of 2025, I made one last night and had a heck of a time with the thread on my machine. I just got this machine (Bernina b70 deco) a few months ago and am still trying to figure out all the tricks it has up its sleeve. Last night, I was embroidering a size 2XL, and it went smoothly, until the end, of course. I made it all the way when I had six minutes left to stitch and for some reason, the upper thread kept getting caught in the bobbin area underneath and creating a huge birds nest. It took me what felt like hours to finally get it to run smoothly again. I changed the bobbin, the needle, and rethreaded the upper thread multiple times. Then, it just randomly went smoothly... what the heck! I don't know what made it work that last time. Every time I stitch a design on this machine, I can feel myself tense up because I know it's going to get funky and cause me problems. When I first got my Brother SE700 last year, it took me a little bit to get used to the tricks it had, but now I've figured it out. Hopefully, it will be the same with my Berninia.

Thanks for following along my small business journey this week as we approach the last market of 2025!
